The Thief

So since graduation is coming up I decided to write a poem about time.

The Thief

Time, a thing that steals people away
Staying with the people you love
Knowing that time follows you around
Realizing that time will steal those people from you eventually
You have to have fun before its too late

People disappearing in the distance
Nothing remains only precious memories
New journeys will unfold
Eventually, it will end because of time

But without time those memories won't be as precious
Without time there won’t be an end
Without time you wouldn’t know what are precious memories

Wouldn’t that make time a kind thief?

ACTIVITY: List Poem

We continued to explore making lists. We are looking for surprising images. Will you find any in your daily life?

Write a list of what you did today...

Today I made coffee, as usual, when I woke up;

Practiced Italian before getting ready for work;
Drove too fast on the way to school;
Sharpened a pencil, used it until the tip broke in first period and then threw it toward the garbage can;
Returned to my office for a stapler;
Brought my lunch and ate with Alison, Anna & Christine--we talked about Morocco;
Laughed more than I expected to;
In between fifth and seventh periods, I visited with Mohammed from Literature last semester;
Talked about reviewing books with the new librarian;
Gave a research workshop to three of my colleagues;
Discussed gender stereotypes with my students; and

Typed a poem or what is really a list of things that I did today that I am calling a poem.

Post-Interview
I’ve woken up with a sense of doubt
Realizing my future lays in my hand
My body was sound
But my mind was undermanned
Apple Music came of use
Listening to MGK’s words of truth
Driving through the city in my 6’4
Getting to the city of Education
Realizing what I stand for
My family, my friends and the underdogs of the nation.
I park my car
Call my main source of inspiration
Though he is far
He brings some sense of alleviation
I realize I will meet nose to nose with my destiny
But it is my choice to which I accept or neglect
To show three unfamiliar faces my scars
Or to hide behind a mask.
Je finit.

A day in my life

A day in my life

Morning, I turned off my phone said my farewell to it until tomorrow
At ABP, I died in the morning since I was tired
Walked around with my friend in this maze of a building

Throughout the day, felt a feeling of uneasiness since my phone was not with me
The wind blew this feeling into dust

I started to enjoy life, without my phone
Without the beeping sound of my phone
Without any disturbance from other people in the virtual world

Learning to appreciate the people right infront of me
Instead of the people who are in a virtual reality
I learned to appreciate people who are infront of me

Farewells

Farewells

A calendar hanging on the white door
Living the days with me
Waiting for its death

A drawing waiting there
To be colored with vibrant colors
To be hanged on the wall
Until it has no use any longer
Then it would be thrown away
And its life would end

A book filled with many adventures
Adventures that fill your heart with love
Adventures that fill your eyes with shimmering hope
Adventures that make you run away from the harsh reality
Into these beautiful adventures that will eventually end

A secret box filled with all the precious items
The precious items that tell stories
That have already ended
I wonder when will my turn come?
