Experience: ups and downs

where the sidewalk ends is where I lose and where I begin.
I lose battles against them; dad and him.
I was told I'm doing wrong by dad, and right by him.
But at the end I was fooled by both, and that's where the sidewalk ends.
Now I wish I'm a child or at least pretend.
Pretend to be a soul that hadn’t experienced such sense.
Or you know what, this is where it truly begins.
Perhaps self-discovery and maturity are now in.
It's really what makes us determined and it's really where the sidewalk ends, or begins.

All Eye's

Give me space
Freedom, no one, no anticipation,
go away now!
can this actually be real?
I am finally without;
constant eyes, attention
I am free, alone, by myself
empty.
no, I hate it
Give me back your judgmental eyes
show me your crowded smile
I need your validation
 your finger stabbing my atmosphere
just for renovation

Here I am finally made it back
red nose, white face
blue mood
I am finally back

Trapped

I saw a Sun set - then I lived-
Its Glorious glow
commanded the Stillness of the Air-
The Stillness of Life,

The Eyes of the world-fixated-
upon this ambiguous focal glow.
All hail the Queen-Bear Witness-
as she bids the day.

my heart and soul -Tribute-
Then i opened my eyes,
and there She was

Hair of Divinity
Smile of Enchantment
Temple of Temptation-
and me- Victim of Avidity-
[Trapped]
She walked away-
[Trapped]

Rains of our Empire

Let the rain cleanse you
Let the rain trickle down your warm body cooling it down
Let the rain set you free as you look up into the gray skies of November
Let the rain nourish you and give you life along with the water hungry herbs around you
The rain carries a life source
The rain is a miracle
The rain is a blessing sent from the extraterrestrial above
The rain is scarce in our empire of sand
Because of that we shall cherish it.

Imitations

April Rain Song

Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk.
The rain makes running pools in the gutter.
The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night—

And I love the rain.

Vivacious Snow

Let the snow hit you
Let the snow smash your self-complacent bloom with an axe-like blow
Let the snow scream in your face

The snow makes rolling bombs of anger
The snow makes thorny mountains of rage
The snow wails, bawls and howls.

Let the snow play with you.

Desert Storm

Let the sand blind you
Let the sand drill its tiny nails into the agony of your arrogant skin
Let the sand clog your eager ears

The sand cements the cemetery of scholarly desire
The sand buries the living lakes of learned love
The sand screeches and scratches the windows of your eyes

Let the sand have you.

Where The Sidewalk Begins

Where The Sidewalk Begins

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
while our minds wonder to and fro,
desperately looking for
the place where the sidewalk begins

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows
and go to a place where no one knows.
Time to ourselves or time with a deared friend,
go to a place where no one knows
and find yourself going
to the place where the sidewalk begins

There is a place where the sidewalk begins
and before the street ends.
And there your thoughts grow
in the light of a crimson sun.
Take a minute and allow your thoughts
to cool in the peppermint wind.

Activity: Use Epistrophe / Epiphora to Give Thanks

Write so that each line or each sentence ends with one of the three following expressions:

  • I give thee thanks
  • thank you
  • my thanks
Obviously, we combined this end-line technique with a Thanksgiving idea. We will not be meeting next week, so it was our last meeting for a couple weeks...

my thanks

mother dearest, you brought me into this beautiful world, my thankssiblings, relatives, and family loved me enough to apply the love on others, my thanksMagdalena, you taught well enough to love literature, my thanksmusic is my only escape when I’m in a need for space, my thankscats and birds are my best company when I’m down, my thanksstrangers make me happy, my thanksmy friends make me feel loved by the unknown, my thanksyour absences made me stronger, my thankstheir motivation made me smarter, my thankshis cruel thinking made me stronger, my thanksthe cold weather brings back the best memories, my thanksthe mystery of this world gives me hope, my thanks

Thank you

You advise me, and lift me up,thank you.
You are deep, yet positive and bright, thank you.
You are desired, and appreciated by many, thank you.
Many are lucky to open up to you, thank you.
You are an apple of everyone’s eye, you are unforgettable, thank you.

Yes you, my beloved teacher, thank you.

I give thee thanks

I asked, thou gave me, and I give thee thanks:

For what opened when I knocked, I give thee thanks
Because I found what I sought, and I give thee thanks
For bread instead of a stone, I give thee thanks
For fish with flesh on the bone, I give thee thanks
For those who know and those who don't, I give thee thanks
For a long way to work and a short way home, I give thee thanks
Despite the pain, but for the small bottle of mint oil, I give thee thanks
For the bag full of words and the shoulder that carried the turmoil, I give thee thanks
For the one that loves me and the one that hates, I give thee thanks
For the sunrise stroll with a few crazy friends, I give thee thanks
For today still unfinished and tomorrow, if it comes, I give thee thanks
For the few and the new and the next thousand times, I give thee thanks.

Eternal Appreciation

You saw my dark side and still accepted me, thank you.
You never gave up on me, thank you.
I always resented you and you never cared about that, thank you.
You cried your heart out trying to help me, thank you.
I thought of you as being oblivious, never did it matter to you, thank you.
It seemed unfair that you helped me, and I gave you nothing in return, but it never clouded your judgement, thank you.
While I was focused on being completely forlorn, you were yearning for me to be with my loved ones, thank you.
You resisted all my hatred towards you, thank you.
With everything that you do for me, it is hard to think of something meaningful and from the heart to give you, still, thank you.
I wanted to make you hate me, but you never did, thank you.
You always loved me, no matter what, thank you.
You transformed every negative thing I said to you, to something positive, thank you.
You cleansed my dark soul, and purified it, thank you.
You became more selfless than you ever were in the past, thank you.
Every time you talked to me about competition, I raged quickly, but I realized that you did it for my own benefit, thank you.
You wanted me to be a harmonic person, not a vindictive person, thank you.
You made me walk  the path of light, instead of the path of shadow, thank you.

Ouch! Thank you

For the rock that tripped me over, thank you
For the wrong turn I took, thank you
For that slap that made me start think twice before i speak, thank you?
To my sister who told me i was adopted from a garbage can they found in the sea. thank you
To the teacher who adopted all 23 stuffed animals, i would like to have them back thank you
To My Wife who walked by me in a mall, i will not say thank you !
Don't be sad, just say thank you
To life, thank you

You Know I Want to Thank You

for everything and I might, but instead, I thank you
for one thing at a time. I thank you
for one hundred. I exaggerate and so I thank you
until the end of the earth. I thank you
for what you're worth. I believe I thank you
I think I pray I do. We're a spectrum. I thank you
with all the red orange yellow green blue indigo violet
riot of a rainbow. I thank you
dude and dear. I thank you
with a tear in my eye. I thank you.
Why? I don't know. I'm all to and fro
and you know I thank you
neverendingly. You're a star
and a tree and a book
and look what else you are.
You're too far. I thank you
where you are or were and sure
we're together. I thank you
in any weather at any time of day,
at home or away. I thank you
no matter what you say.
I say it again: I thank you.

Activity: Write a Cinquain

This week's activity focuses on using a form of a cinquain to convey the message. Using syllables or words, the form follows this pattern for each line: 2, 4, 6, 8, 2. Two cinquains, one flipped over and stacked on top of the other, may be used to create a butterfly cinquain, as well.

My Friend

My friend
Followed me,
Stayed for supper, parted,
Remembered that I had promised
A poem.

Flying grandma

She was
My grey granny
Kitchen full of kittens
Frying pancakes was funny
Summer hat and mittens
She flew away
One day

Leaving

Let go
Of what we had
Forget the times we spent alone
Leave me to the careless and never return

Forget me
