starts to hum

stops
starts again
my wife shouts for silence
she tries to read
there is a moment of silence
"it's too hot!"
my son shares
from his room
turns the light on
eventually quiets
my wife looks at me
after a while
"go check"
her eyes say
mine say
"in a minute"
