gets into our bed
gets us mad
he scatters
goes to his room
back to his bed
starts to hum
hm-hm-hmmmmm-hmmmmmmmmm-hm-hm
stops

starts again
my wife shouts for silence
she tries to read
there is a moment of silence

"it's too hot!"
my son shares
from his room
turns the light on
eventually quiets

my wife looks at me
after a while

her eyes say
