There once was

There once was a woman near here
Who stood on her head for a cheer
She fell down and died
And nobody cried
But they did have a cheerful sneer

There once was a girl so contrary
That people mistook her for a fairy
She argued a lot
She said what she thought
And made everyone very merry.

There once was a poet inspired
Who wrote poems and was admired
He also liked beer
But never shed a tear

Until he grew old and retired.
